Installation Lab

The Directorate of Laboratories supervises and manages the work of the laboratories of the oil facilities in Tripoli and Zahrani. The laboratories are:

- Oil installations laboratory in Tripoli

- Oil facilities laboratory in Zahrani

- Central Oil Laboratory in Beirut

The Lebanese government had agreed to accredit the oil facilities laboratories in Tripoli and Al-Zahrani as the body authorized to conduct analyzes for oil derivatives imported and coming from aboard marine tankers. Ensuring the quality of imported oil derivatives will benefit every citizen who uses a car or plane, extend the life of electric generators and power stations, and maintain the safety of public and private facilities that consume these materials.

Oil installations laboratories are qualified to meet the needs of the public and private sectors in all regions of Lebanon.

Among the sectors that benefit from laboratory services are air equipment in the Lebanese army, the Ministry of Economy and Trade through the Department for Suppression of Fraud, Lebanese Customs, the private sector and the energy sector.

The laboratories perform analyzes on the listed petroleum products:

1. CAZ Flying

2. Gasoline

3. Gas oil

4. Diesel oil is a necessity for motorized vehicles

5. Residual fuel oil

6. LPG Butane and Propane

7. Asphalt biodiesel

The test methods used are based on the internationally recognized methods of ASTM, IP, ISO and other protocols.

The Directorate of Laboratories has started preparing for a long time and has taken the required commitment to have the tests conducted in oil laboratories according to internationally accepted levels. Our laboratories have participated in technical support programs with BP, and I am still committed to participating with the IIS-Institute of Inter-laboratory Study to perform periodic examinations compared to about a hundred international laboratories within the quality comparison program. The trust placed by dealers in oil installation laboratories is of great importance. The Laboratories Department has begun working with the Lebanese Quality Program funded by the European Union and the European expert team to prepare for obtaining the ISO 17025 quality certificate under a memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Ministry of Economy and Trade in April 2013 and is expected to be completed in the middle of 2014.
