The facilities consist of two locations: downstream and a refinery. According to the concession approved in the law issued on May 23, 1931, the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC) transported the crude oil produced in Kirkuk - Iraq, through oil pipelines extending from Iraq through Syria, to the downstream in Tripoli, Lebanon, for export and refinement. In 1940, the refinery was established to filter crude oil imported through pipelines from the Kirkuk fields in Iraq, with a capacity of 21,000 barrels per day. In 1973, the Lebanese government took over the management of these facilities. However, the Lebanese war and the failure to operate the refinery led to its suspension in 1992. Current activities: The facilities operate on the basis of importing fuel oil and gas oil through the downstream and storing it in the facilities' tanks to be processed. These derivatives are distributed in the local market through distribution companies.

Consists of two sites: Terminal & Refinery
The terminal was constructed by BECHTEL CO. and owned by TAPLINE (TRANS ARABIAN PIPELINE). Tapline used to receive light Arabian crude oil from Saudi Arabia through oil pipelines crossing Jordan and Syria reaching the Zahrani’s terminal in south of Lebanon.
The refinery was commissioned in early 1950, and was owned by CALTEX under the name of (MEDRECO - MEDITERANEAN REFINERY CO). Refining with a 17500 barrel per day capacity, till it was completely stopped in 1989 due to the same reasons that caused the stoppage of Tripoli refinery.
Current activities: the installations work on the basis of importing fuel oil and gas oil , Gasoline 92 octane, through the terminal and storing it in the reservoirs of the installations, then treating and distributing these derivatives in the local market through distribution companies.
Was constructed by BECHTEL CO and owned by TAPLINE (TRANS ARABIAN PIPE LINE). On December 31, 1983 Its owner ship was released to the Lebanese government.
TAPLINE used to receive light Arabian crude oil (before 1982) approx 500000 BPD from kingdom of Saudi Arabia thru 31” pipe line crossing Jordan and Syria reaching Zahrani in south Lebanon at a total distance of 1213km.
The Terminal consists of two zones:
-lower zone consists of marine department and shore operation
-upper zone consists of tank farm area
The refinery was commissioned in early 1950 and it was owned by CALTEX under the name of “MEDRECO-MEDITERANEAN REFINERY CO”. In September 30, 1986 this company abandoned its ownership in favor of Lebanese government.
